Formatio.Forge

Teacher turned appsmith.

A blacksmith shapes iron at the forge. An appsmith shapes software. I build simple, sturdy classroom apps that help students understand, practice, and enjoy what they're learning.

No long setup or training sessions. Open the app, and you're ready to teach.

Meet the appsmith

Grades 2–12all taught

I'm Mr. Phillips, and I've been teaching for 20 years in public schools, international schools, and classical Christian schools, including eight years in Japan. I've taught every grade from 2nd through 12th, and just about every subject along the way: math, science, history, Bible, Latin, reading, writing, grammar, and spelling. Math has always been my specialty.

For most of those years, I've also served as my school's IT coordinator, and for more than five summers I've run tech camps for students. My own coding journey started with building apps in Scratch alongside my son.

Somewhere along the way, the teacher became an appsmith. Now I build the classroom tools I always wished I had: shaped in a real classroom, tested with real students, and refined one strike at a time.

Why Formatio Forge? Formatio is Latin for shaping, forming, and training. A forge is where raw material becomes something useful through heat and patient, repeated work.
